Stress is an amazing thing. It alters the way your brain and body work to such an extent that you might as well be a different person! Under stress you think differently, your emotions become exaggerated and you do things you wouldn't normally do.
So how can you manage stress more effectively?
You have more control over your life than you may might think. In fact, the simple realization that you can be in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. Managing stress is all about taking charge of your thoughts, emotions, schedule, and the way you deal with problems. There are many effective tools to help manage and cope with stress but they all require awareness and practice. By learning these tools an applying them you can decrease stress levels by either changing your situation or your reaction to it. Also, learning how to dissolve the negative effects of stress improves the overall health and wellbeing of an individual leading to feeling satisfied with life and that includes their work life too.
Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction Workshop (1 hour- introduction) or (2 hours Intro and practice)
Part 1- This 1 hour Mindfulness based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Workshop is an informative and awareness building intro to Mindfulness based stress-reduction. Participants discover healthy ways of dealing with stress, developing awareness and self-understanding while learning coping skills to help improve stress levels and prevent unnecessary stresses. Several Mindfulness based stress-reduction methods and perspectives are introduced, as well as an intro to practical exercises to practice during this workshop.
Part 1+ 2- In this 2 hour workshop you have the intro to MBSR plus Chair yoga, Breath-work and Meditation practices are included to relieve tension and get energy flowing in the body as well as calm the mind. These practices take participants to a deeper level of self-awareness and learning stress coping skills and prevention methods to successfully affect their ability to manage stress. Participants will receive a workshop workbook they can work in and use to help remind them of what they learned during the workshop as well as to keep developing their stress reduction skills.

Stress Prevention and Balanced Lifestyle Workshop (2 hours in length)
Part 3- This workshop provides a wholistic approach to stress prevention that helps participants recognize what areas of their lives require re-alignment or improvement, change or an adjustment. The goals are to re-establish healthy desires to help the mind to stay balanced and focused on healthier approaches to living.
During this workshop participants will examine their personal and lifestyle habits which may be working against them. Non-judgmental attention is paid to personal areas such as self-esteem, beliefs about oneself, present conflicts, strengths, weaknesses, and current life situation, all done in their journal, not publicly. The awareness gained is explored until the big picture becomes clearer and unconscious patterns are uncovered. Personal goals for change or growth may be set and steps toward them are drawn up by the co-operative group effort and workshop leader. Participants can continue journaling at home and for toward their goals.
Follow up Workshops
Subsequent workshops can take participants to a deeper level of experiencing and learning stress coping skills and stress prevention methods.
It is suggested that the Stress Reduction workshop is followed up with the Stress Prevention and Balanced Lifestyle Workshop within a 3 month period to help participants continue learning new ways of staying in balance to continue to help them successfully manage stress.
